This PSA should have an inspirational, pro-recovery slant. We want to avoid any glamorizing images (think magazine ads and dramatic images of sufferers), yet feature the wide range of people who struggle with disordered eating, as well as the many ways this impacts their lives.
Like many other substances, food can be abused. As we begin to manipulate how we eat, what we eat, and when, we lose touch with the natural signals which guide us towards health and wellness. In the resulting confusion we seek refuge in the highs and lows of our success or failure and disordered eating begins to destroy us. It destroys our lives, bodies, relationships, families, dreams. It doesn’t matter where you come from or what color you are. It is a matter of life and death and yet is so often regarded as a joke. Fodder for tabloid headlines: “Wasting away!? “Drowning in Donuts!? We rarely look at the true hell behind the mask of fat or thin.
Please send us your ideas and help us make a difference! Also, if you know anyone who has struggled with a eating disorder, please ask them to submit their ideas as well.

We've gotten some awesome submissions. I applaud everyone especially on the way they are exploring the seriousness of eating disorders--how destructive, un-glamourous and isolating they are. I also like the glimpses of the outside world--contrasting the sufferer in their disorder with the world they came from.
A thought--while it may be poweful to chronicle one sufferer--would it be more striking to look more broadly? Perhaps exploring the variety of types of sufferers--men, women, adolescents, adults, loved ones--friends, family, children. Some of the submissions have touched on this but I wonder if we can take it one step further--contradicting some of the misconceptions about eating disorders--i.e. that they are glamour issues, teenage issues, affluent disorders etc. This may mean the PSA is looks more like a quilt of images than have a linear plot. Just a thought to see if this inspires anyone....keep those ideas coming!
