The scene is set during the instrumental intro that it's a rainy day; tea is boiling on the stove top. We then peak in a country cottage where a guy and girl sit opposite eachother. Guy is sketching the girl on an artist pad, as she plays along and tries to sit still. Camera close ups on both faces, eyes, drawing, etc. During chorus at "I'll be damned" we catch a glimpse of what they could be doing, i.e. having a pic-nic on a sunny day, riding in a truck with the windows rolled down.
Second verse, girl has made guy pose as she sketches him. During the second chorus "I'll be damned" we see them reveal their sketches of eachother. His is a beautifully drawn sketch of her, her canvas is empty. The rain has stopped. And she's out the door. "Curve ball" and guy stands in doorway as he watches her pull away. More glimpses of a brighter, better day flash by. The door closes. |

As the young soldier has returned from Iraq, disgusted and disillusioned, La LLorona's encounter brings out the fight still in the young man. He has given up on life and hope for a better tommorrow; his girlfriend left him while he was away, and his family treats him as a war hero from a war he no longer believes in. Because of the confrontation, he is rejuvinated and recharged fighting for his life. This conflict actually makes La Llorna a positive antagonist in the recovery from the horrors of war for the protagonist. |

The phone is dead. The woman climbs out of bed her bare foot going over the side of the bed and stepping in a dark blood. She looks up and she is in the scene we saw flashes of earlier. The doctors look up and see here, smile and go back to their work. She runs out the door into the fully lit hallway and runs all the way to the end and opens the door. |

She is naive and young, very scatter-brained and unorganized. She is very much still a kid on the inside. She wears whatever clothes she sees first because she has more important things to think about. Her initial idea of him was perfect, nearly god-like. While He is falling in love with her, she is falling in love with the idea of him. She sees him as perfect, flawless, her beginning sketches show him as larger then life but all end up on the floor in crupled piles. As time progresses, she progresses with her drafts and with the realization that who he is isn't who she thought, the sketches get less and less spectacular until we see the empty page and she finally leaves. |
